Tuition Fees

Will I have to pay tuition fees?

If you are classed as being ordinarily resident in England, Wales or Northern Ireland, you will be required to pay tuition fees for each year of your course. Please note that fees in Scotland have been set by the Scottish Government and they do not vary between institutions. The fee level for new students entering in 2009 is £1,820 per year. You will be entitled to take out an additional student loan to cover tuition costs, and this will be repaid, along with any other student loans, once you have graduated, and are earning a salary of above £15,000 per year.

For further guidance, applicants from England and Wales should contact their Local Education Authority (LEA). LEA details can be found at www.dfes.gov.uk or by telephoning the Department for Education and Skills (DfES) free student support line, Tel: 0800 731 9133.

Students from Northern Ireland apply to their local Education and Library Board for support. Contact information can be found at www.student-support.org.uk, or by telephoning the Department for Employment and Learning (DELNI) Tel: 028 9025 7728.

Paying your fees

All fees are due and payable on enrolment, and are made directly to the University.  If you choose to, you can finance the cost of the tuition fees yourself. However, you can apply for an additional loan to cover the cost of your tuition fees. The Student Loans Company can pay the fees directly to your institution. You would then repay the fee loan in the same way as your other student loan once you have completed your studies and are earning in excess of £15,000.

Part-time Study

Part-time students will continue to pay tuition fees. Fee waivers may be available for students on certain benefits or low income.
