Undergraduate Study
Course Information
All our degrees are modelled on the SCQF credit framework and are assessed at levels 7 – 10. Most modules are worth 22 SCQF credits. There are various levels and types of degree with which you can graduate.
You’ll need at least 22 modules, for 484 SCQF credits. If you’re a full-time student, you need to reach this in four years, at the end of your eighth semester. You also need to have taken four modules in subjects other than your main subject.
Your grade will be based on your performance
in the third and fourth years.
In your first three semesters, you’ll aim to
take eight or nine modules in a minimum of
three subjects. At the end of each semester,
you can either continue with these subjects,
or drop one or even two and start something
new, provided you complete any compulsory
components of your intended degree.
This pattern continues until the end of
Semester 3, when you make your final
decision about the subject(s) you want to
study to degree level.
Admission to Honours normally takes place at the end of Semester 4 (if you’ve studied full-time and begun in September).
This is a four-year degree programme with one main specialist subject of study in Semesters 5 – 8. You’ll normally have the option of taking at least one level 10 module in a second subject.
